In this study, it is aimed to be obtained the uniform temperature distribution on the top
surface of the saucepan base, while it is heated from the bottom surface irregularly by the
burned gases from the furnace provided. For this purpose, an aluminum saucepan has been
manufactured to use in the experiments. To obtain steady state temperature distribution on
the manufactured saucepan base, firstly, experiments were performed for the smooth base
geometry of the aluminum saucepan. Secondly, corresponding to temperature values
obtained from the smooth base geometry, some modifications have been made on the
thickness of the saucepan base along the radial direction. Thirdly, over again, experiments
were performed for re-structured base to obtain the new temperature distribution. Finally, the
new measured temperature values on the top side of re-structured base are evaluated and
compared with the smooth base results. When the temperature distributions obtaining from the smooth and re-structured saucepan bases are compared with each other, it is seen that the temperature values yielded on the top surface of the re-structured base design are more stable than the other and also observed that energy consumption decreased with increase the average temperature on the top surface of re-structured base in saucepan during the experiment. The water and oil were used as a
working fluid to fill the saucepan in the experiments. Experiments have been repeated for
v water and oil under the different gas flow rate conditions. It was shown that the warming for
both fluids in the saucepan with new design base occurred in less time. Consequently, when
the both base geometry of saucepan were compared with each other in terms of energy
efficiency and fuel consumption, the new geometry defined as re-structured base of saucepan
is very promising to its shorter warm up time and lower gas consumption.
